Valery Chua

Paediatric Occupational Therapist

Specialising in neuro-developmental disorders e.g. ASD/ ADHD

Valery is a fully registered Occupational Therapist with the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC), Singapore (Registration No.: A1800211I). She has been supporting and working with persons of varied abilities since 2013, across their lifespan - from early childhood to adolescence and adulthood. She specialises in treating children and adolescents diagnosed with neurodevelopmental disorders such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). She has extensive experience supporting children and adolescents across various settings, including special education schools, community outpatient and acute inpatient settings.

Valery’s stint as an early interventionist at the Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore provided her with valuable insights into the challenges faced by families with young children with additional needs. She also brings with her a wealth of knowledge from the Child Guidance Clinic (CGC) and Adult Neurodevelopmental Service (ANDS) at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) - she has a profound understanding of supporting neuro-divergent children and youth with co-morbid mental health conditions such as oppositional behaviours, anxiety and mood disorders.

As a registered facilitator of the Circle of Security program, Valery believes in working collaboratively with parents to support children and adolescents as they navigate diverse challenges in their growing up years. 

​

In her free time, Valery enjoys playing with her 4-year-old niece and bringing her out to enjoy the great outdoors. She also taps into her creative side through photography and videography.

Valery has experience in:

  • Designing therapy interventions to maximise the functional abilities of children and adolescents in school and daily life

  • Planning and conducting group-based interventions to promote social skills

  • Conducting caregiver and parent training

  • Co-leading and organising parent-children camps for children with developmental challenges

 

Valery is skilled and experienced in working with children and families with the following difficulties/ conditions:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder

  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

  • Attention/self-regulation difficulties

  • Gross and fine motor skills delays

  • Sensory Processing difficulties

  • Global Developmental Delay (GDD)

  • Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD)/Dyspraxia
