Tang Wei Kiat

Co-founder/ Clinical Director

Specialising in neuromotor disorders and physical disabilities (infant and children)

Wei Kiat is a UK trained Occupational Therapist and is registered with Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC), Singapore (Registration No.: A1301544Z). He is a member of both the Neurodevelopmental Treatment Association (NDTA), US and the Singapore Association of Occupational Therapists.

With more than 12 years of experience working as an Occupational Therapist across a variety of settings from early intervention, pre-schools, military, hospital and community, both locally and internationally.  Wei Kiat brings with him a diverse range of skill sets.  

In his previous job, Wei Kiat held the position of Therapy Team Lead at 1 of the largest preschool operators (NTUC First Campus) in Singapore. He led a team of paediatric therapists (Clinical/Educational Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists) who provide support to pre-schoolers with learning and developmental needs, supporting national programmes like DSLS, DS Plus, Inclusive Preschool.

Wei Kiat had provided consultancy work at the national level and also conducted training workshops and coaching to a wide variety of target audience from medical professionals (doctors/nurses), therapists, educators and parents. Internationally, being effectively bilingual, he was recently invited to provide consultancy and clinical supervision for the Occupational Therapy service of an early intervention center in Yunnan, China. He continues to provide consultancy services to Cerebral Palsy Johor, Malaysia. Locally, he has been active in providing consultancy and training to Early Intervention Centres running the EIPIC-P, as well as preschools, on topics related to child development, inclusion and parenting.

He is currently an Associate Faculty and Clinical Educator at the Singapore Institute of Technology on the Bachelors of Science (Honours) program in Occupational Therapy. In recognition of his efforts and excellence in teaching, he had won a number of awards, notably the Inspiring Clinical Supervisor Award conferred by the Singapore Association of Occupational Therapists and also the NHG Teaching Excellence Award. Recently, he was selected to be part of the Pre-Candidate Instructor group at NDTA (US), working towards being an Instructor Candidate of Neuro-Developmental Treatment, US.

Wei Kiat is skilled and experienced in delivering talks and training workshops in the following areas to a wide range of audience (e.g. doctors, therapists, teachers, early interventionists, parents): 

  • Self-regulation in young children

  • Sensory processing difficulties in young children and its impact on learning and development

  • Managing challenging behaviours in young children/children/adolescents/adults with neurodevelopmental disabilities

  • Handwriting development in children

  • Supporting children with physical disabilities and how to include them in daily life

 

Wei Kiat is skilled and experienced in supporting infant, children and families with the following difficulties/ conditions:

  • Cerebral Palsy (e.g. hemiplegia)

  • Down's Syndrome 

  • Spinal Bifida

  • Global Developmental Delay (GDD)

  • Genetic Disorders

  • Any other neuro-motor disorders

 

Wei Kiat is trained in:

  • Postgraduate Certification in Sensory Integration from the renowned University of Southern California (with specialisation in Early Intervention, Autism and Feeding)
